Leonora House, Maida Vale

Octavia worked closely with both Westminster City Council and Age Concern to develop 21 extra care units (with associated facilities) for older people as well as a Day Centre managed by Age Concern. This popular scheme provides a secure and homely environment for elderly residents with moderate physical and mental disabilities.

Sadly the purpose-designed day centre had to close following withdrawal of funding. Due to its flexible design, Octavia was able to replace the day centre with a five-unit dementia annex which includes 24 hour support.

This scheme celebrates partnership working resulting in the successful decant and relocation of residents as well as a well-designed and functional building in the heart of the Maida Vale Conservation Area.

The original extra care scheme completed in early 2010.

In 2014, the Harris Centre was replaced with a dementia wing also managed by Octavia. The lounge area in Leonora House was also extended under the same contract to replace the former day centre facilities.

Leonora House and the Dementia Wing benefit from a pleasant landscaped garden at the rear.
